Federico Barrueta

Don Federico's story begins in 2003, when he decided to resume the coffee production his father started in his hometown of Temascaltepec, State of Mexico. Since then, he has dedicated himself to learning and improving the production and quality of his coffee. His farm, La Ilusión, is located at the foot of Nevado de Toluca, in the community of San Andrés de los Gama, at an elevation of 2,100 meters above sea level .

The State of Mexico isn't a region known for its coffee production; however, Don Federico decided to excel in this field. He achieved this through perseverance, hard work, and dedication: he began taking courses and competing nationally.

Thus, in 2018, it competed for the Cup of Excellence for the first time. Against all expectations, Don Federico's coffee ranked above coffee-growing powerhouses such as Veracruz, Chiapas, and Oaxaca, perennial favorites. In subsequent Cups of Excellence, Don Federico has remained within the top 5, in addition to winning other awards for the quality of its coffee. Awards: Cup of Excellence 2nd place in 2018, 4th place in 2019, and 4th place in 2021, winner of 3 Presidential Awards (90+ pts.).
