Marco Cadena
La Estancia Farm began producing coffee in the 1950s, when Marco Antonio was a member of the fourth generation of his family dedicated to coffee. When Marco Antonio became more actively involved in the family farm, he implemented significant changes, focusing on environmental responsibility and social commitment.
During harvest time, from January to March, Marco welcomes 20 workers committed to producing the best coffee in the region. During these months, the workers live on the farm and receive food and a place to sleep. Furthermore, the workers' compensation is higher than the regional average, which serves as an incentive to meet quality standards and, at the same time, fulfill the social commitment between the employer and the workers.

The Cadena family farm is characterized by constant monitoring throughout its processes. Marco pays special attention to the harvesting and picking of ripe cherries. To achieve this, farm workers have been required to undertake a teaching-learning process emphasizing quality, not quantity.
As one of the ecological initiatives at La Estancia, coffee husks are reused as compost for coffee plants or sent to neighboring farms as cattle feed. Marco Cadena plans to develop social security programs for his workers, continue training to perfect his processes, obtain certification, and expand his organic coffee production.
